思春期以降、お顔の角質で毛穴が詰まりやすくなり、それが原因でニキビの芽ようなもの、「コメド」が増えてきます。
ニキビを治すためには、このコメドをなくす効果のある薬を使うことがとても大切です。今、処方されるお薬の中では、「アダパレン」と「過酸化ベンゾイル」という2つの成分だけが、この効果を持っています。残念ながら、市販のニキビ薬では、このコメドをなくす効果は期待できません。
ニキビの治療では、通常、これらの薬のどちらか、または両方を使います。しかし、使用していく過程でいくつか注意点もあります。
アダパレン：使い始めの頃、お肌が赤くなったり、ヒリヒリしたり、乾燥したりすることがあります。
過酸化ベンゾイル（ベピオゲル、デュアック配合ゲルなど）：アダパレンと同じような刺激に加えて、1～2%の確率でかぶれてしまうことがあります。また、この薬は酸化作用があるため、服、寝具や髪の毛などにつくと色が抜けてしまうこともあります。
このような理由で、過酸化ベンゾイルの薬を使うのを諦めてしまった方や、服の色抜けが気になっていた方に、新しい選択肢が登場します。それが「ベピオウォッシュゲル」です。
この新しい薬は、顔や体のニキビに効果があり、塗ってから5～10分後に洗い流して使います。洗い流すことで、従来の過酸化ベンゾイルの欠点（刺激やかぶれ、色抜けなど）をカバーしつつ、ニキビへの効果を高めることが期待されています。

Understanding Acne and Comedones
After puberty, your facial skin tends to accumulate dead skin cells, which can easily clog pores. This often leads to an increase in what we call “comedones”—the early stage of acne.
To effectively treat acne, it’s crucial to use medications that eliminate these comedones. Currently, only two ingredients available by prescription have this effect: adapalene and benzoyl peroxide. Unfortunately, over-the-counter acne medications typically do not offer this benefit.
Common Acne Medications and Their Considerations
Acne treatment usually involves using one or both of these medications. However, there are a few things to keep in mind when using them:
Adapalene: When you first start using adapalene, your skin might experience redness, stinging, or dryness.
Benzoyl Peroxide (e.g., Bepio Gel, Duac Combination Gel): In addition to irritation similar to adapalene, there’s a 1-2% chance of developing a rash. Also, because this medication has an oxidizing effect, it can bleach clothing, bedding, or even hair if it comes into contact.
Introducing a New Option: Bepio Wash Gel
For those who have given up on benzoyl peroxide due to its side effects or have been concerned about discoloration of their clothes, a new option is now available: Bepio Wash Gel.
This new medication is effective for acne on both the face and body. You apply it and then rinse it off after 5 to 10 minutes. By rinsing it off, Bepio Wash Gel is expected to mitigate the traditional drawbacks of benzoyl peroxide (such as irritation, rash, and discoloration) while still enhancing its acne-fighting effects.
